Falcons still perfect in conference play

By Nick Wilczynski, senior

Not only did the Friends University volleyball team win its fourth straight conference match Wednesday night against Southwestern College, but the Falcons have yet to drop a single set in each of those four wins.

The Falcons are led by senior setter Addie Peterson who leads the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference in assists tallying over 400 in 15 games.

Along with Peterson, recent junior college transfer Carrie Kahn has led the team in hitting percentage by nailing 110 kills at a 32 percentile.

Even with the dominating performance so far this season, the recent success isn’t enough.

“We are always looking for new ways to improve as individuals and a team,” said Kahn. “Our goal is to go undefeated, and once this is done then we can celebrate.”

Other teams have taken note of the recent win streak as scouts from Bethel College were at Wednesday’s game.

“We want to win every game in three sets, but at the same time we don’t need to get too confident and take a game off,” said senior Rexanne Schilowsky.

The Falcons will head to the Bellevue Premier Classic Tournament this weekend in Omaha, Neb., and will take on top-ranked teams such as Dordt College and Grand View University from Iowa.

The first game of the tournament kicks off at 11 a.m. Friday and the Falcons will finish with MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday at 1 p.m.
